Tuesday, January 21st, 2014

I am happy to share with you that Coveris acquired Closures Ltd in Q4, 2013, a major UK based producer of plastic packaging to the dairy industry.  Closures Ltd will be part of the Global Rigid business as well as the ex- Kobusch UK business including sites in; Stanley, England, Livingston, Scotland and Caerphilly, Wales.

About Closures Ltd:
Founded in 2003, Closures initially manufactured compression moulded induction heat sealed caps, with thin wall injection moulded pot production commencing in 2006 and lids in 2011. The company has since become the market leader for dairy caps and in mould labelled pots, and supplies to a significant number of UK dairies – with a range of these products. Closures employs around 100 people at its site in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire with an annual turnover in excess of £25 million.

About the ex-Kobusch UK:
The UK business is a global leader in speciality packaging with a UK annual turnover of approximately £60m.
There are three UK manufacturing sites – Stanley, England, Livingston, Scotland and Caerphilly, Wales. The sites in Stanley and Livingston offer Extrusion and Thermoforming for rigid packaging serving the food industry and the site in Caerphilly offers semi-rigid film extrusion with a focus on the processed meat industry. The business offers a variety of materials (rPET, PP, CPET) in both clear and coloured mix plus full in-house design capabilities including advanced prototyping and sampling facilities, and in house tool design.

These four sites are a great addition to our Global Rigid division, as it will complement the comprehensive packaging solutions we offer our customers and expand our footprint in the UK.
All sites will be doing business under the Coveris name and will be rebranded accordingly.
